What to do when your camera is not turning on when using the teleprompter

Is your camera not connecting when you start recording with the teleprompter? Are you seeing the "spinning wheel of death" in your camera box (see below)?

👀 The camera might appear as an option, but this doesn't mean the permissions are enabled for Chrome on your device.

Sometimes, when your operating system updates, the camera permissions for Chrome can change without warning. Read on to learn how to get your camera back up and running!

iOs Web- grant camera permissions

Follow these steps to give your browser permission to access your Camera:

  1. Click on the apple logo on the top left of your screen and choose "System preferences"

  2. Select Security and Privacy

  3. Enable camera permissions for Chrome by ticking the checkbox beside it

Windows/Chrome Web- grant camera permissions

Clear your browser's cache to reset your camera's permission request

💡 When you use a browser, like Chrome, it saves some information from websites in its cache and cookies. Clearing them fixes certain problems, like loading or formatting issues on sites.

  1. Open your Chrome browser and click the 3 dots at the upper right corner of the browser's window and select Settings

  2. Go to Privacy and Security then click on Clear browsing data

  3. Clear browsing data will show up. You need to set the following:

    ✅ Time range: All time

    ✅ Cookies and other site data

    ✅ Cached images and files

Once done, close all your browsers, then relaunch it and try to record again.
