What is a Bluetooth Multimedia Remote?
A Bluetooth multimedia remote is a small device that connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth. It allows you to remotely control the teleprompter's speed and pause.
Using a remote can help you maintain better eye contact with your camera while reading from the teleprompter, making your presentations look more professional.
Which Bluetooth Multimedia Remotes are compatible with the BIGVU app?
BIGVU is designed to work with most standard Bluetooth multimedia remotes. We have confirmed the compatibility of "Satechi R2 Bluetooth MultiMedia Remote" and are working on additional approved remotes.
Pairing the remote
Enable Bluetooth: Make sure your smartphone's or tablet's Bluetooth is turned on.
Turn on the Remote: Power on your Bluetooth multimedia remote and put it in pairing mode. Refer to the remote's user manual for instructions on how to do this, as they may vary between different models.
For example. With a Satechi remote, you must press the Bluetooth button for three seconds.
Pair the Devices: On your smartphone or tablet, go to the Bluetooth settings. Look for your remote in the list of available devices and tap on it to pair. Confirm the pairing request
If the remote has both a multimedia mode and a presentation mode, make sure it is on "P." Presentation mode
Open the BIGVU App: Launch the BIGVU app on your device.
Using the remote
Once your remote is connected to the BIGVU app, you can use it to control the teleprompter:
Press the record button: The remote will not control the start of the teleprompter. Press the red record button on the Teleprompter to start. Don't worry, you can use the countdown to get into place
Speed Control: The up and down buttons on the remote can be used to control the teleprompter's speed.
Pause/Play: The play/pause button on the remote will pause and resume the teleprompter script.
Home: This will close the app, and return you to your device's home page
Troubleshooting
If your remote isn't working as expected, try the following steps:
Reconnect: Go to your device's Bluetooth settings, forget the remote, and then reconnect it.
Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your remote and update it if necessary.
Restart: Restart both your smartphone or tablet and the remote.
